So, as the senior director of Whichlist.com, and with a “few” mistakes behind me, I am stepping aside from the daily grind, to allow myself the freedom to speak on a closer basis with a very few selected clients and try to help on advice, knowledge and resources

How can I possibly help?   By ensuring that you communicate to the best prospects available

Having spent over 35 years in the list business, and having dealt with many clients and their marketing over the years, I believe that many could be more profitable if they had an experienced marketer to actually think, advise, spend time and provide the right list for their campaign. The list supply industry is extremely confusing with claim and counter claim, differing definitions and a lack of desire by many sellers to even try to understand the client’s objectives.

My aim is to use my knowledge of the WHOLE list industry to find a list that is the right target market for the campaign. A typical broker will often only use 5 or 6 sources, I will research and identify a list from over 1000 lists and 160 suppliers.  More significantly I will attempt to understand the product and the application and thus ensure that the client receives the most targeted records available. If I cannot find it, it is highly probable it does not exist.

Finally, companies see email marketing as a cheap route to prospect marketing, believing exaggerated claims of response rates which are often not achieved due to poor planning, and often having little understanding of why it failed. So email marketing has gathered an unjustified bad reputation.  In an ironic way, many are returning to the old Direct Mail because it still produces greater results but others are taking the opposite direction and  moving forward to the networking sites and to the use of personalised URL’s.
